Dr. Matt Watson, DMD

Dr. Price Matthew Watson DMD (which he affectionately refers to as “Domestic Missionary Dentist”) is the clinical director of North Charleston Dental Outreach. Prior to coming to NCDO, he devotedly served the rural populations of the state. Called to this new role, Dr. Watson firmly believes in the mission and vision of NCDO. He firmly advocates that all people are image-bearers of God. He is committed to continuing, as he always has, to work as unto the Lord in all interactions with patients. Dr. Watson is very active in his local church in Mount Pleasant where he serves as a deacon and teaches children there. He also is a regional leader of Child Evangelism Fellowship, which oversees the Good News Clubs throughout the coastal area of South Carolina. An Eagle Scout, Dr. Watson has been very active in Scouting ever since childhood and is a national leader of the organization. Dr. Watson is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina and is a member of the South Carolina Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. One of his favorite quotes is one that he seeks daily to remember:

“Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.”

Ashton Hernandez

Executive Director

Ashton has an extensive background working in North Charleston with prior experience focusing on public health and biomedical research that led her to translate those skills into the nonprofit sector.

Her passion to help the residents of North Charleston has been her focus since her experience as an AmeriCorps VISTA where she assisted students at Title I schools on the peninsula receive school-based healthcare. She noticed that repeatedly students and their families had a difficult time getting access to dental care, which is how she was led to the work at NCDO. She was previously a board member for the organization, and felt called to serve a higher purpose when the Executive Director position was available. Her vision for the future of the clinic is to expand access to dental care for as many vulnerable residents as possible.

Outside of work, Ashton lives on Johns Island with her husband, son, and three rescue pets. She is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and has called Charleston home for the past ten years. She has a lot of hobbies including painting, playing the piano, singing, and volunteering. She loves to travel and has visited more than 15 different countries. Her passions to help the most vulnerable come from her servant's heart and wanting to live every day for Jesus and leave as much of an impact on the world as she can.

Ann Martinez

Office Manager

Ann schedules appointments and coordinates the clinic's day-to-day operations. Because of her Spanish skills, she is invaluable in helping communicate with the clinic's growing number of Hispanic patients. She responds to phone inquiries, interprets during clinical procedures, and provides clinical assistance when called upon.

Ann has worked in the medical field for over 30 years as a home health aide and medical and dental assistant. Ann is a mother of four and has lived in Charleston for 14 years.

With over 10 years of experience as a dental assistant, Brandi excels at creating a calm, welcoming environment that helps patients feel relaxed and confident during their visits.

When she's not caring for patients, Brandi enjoys spending time at the beach, tending to her garden, and exploring new places.

Brandon earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Binghamton and a Master’s degree from The Citadel. He brings a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to our clinic, helping patients feel confident and at ease in the dental chair. Brandon’s Christian faith guides both his life and work. He believes true health involves balancing care for the mind, body, and spirit while building meaningful relationships in the communities we live and serve.

Brandon is preparing to attend dental school with the goal of practicing dentistry in South Carolina. Outside the clinic, he enjoys yoga, hiking, and spending time with friends, family, and his wife, Ariel."
