Dr. Barry is a 1985 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry and holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Citadel.

He is an Academic Fellow in the American Academy of Oral Medicine and completed a one-year fellowship in Oral Surgery while on active duty in the United States Navy Dental Corps. 

Dr. Barry has served as a Curriculum Consultant to the American Dental Association Commission on Accreditation, a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, and is a graduate of the ADEA Leadership Institute.

His most recent academic appointments have been Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at MUSC and Chairman of GP / Prosthodontics at VCU.
